Over the past year, our joint customers in California have faced a host of uncertainties and financial challenges stemming from COVID-related restrictions. To support our customers in the state, we will be returning a portion of their 2020 premiums.
An additional Personal Auto Customer Relief Refund
Fewer drivers have been on the road, which has meant fewer accidents. With this in mind, last year, we announced our Personal Auto Customer Relief Refund, which returned 15% of customers’ annual auto premiums for two months. Given the significant impact ongoing COVID restrictions had on California drivers, we have decided to issue an additional refund for the remaining months of 2020. Here’s how it works:
- Personal auto insurance customers who received the initial auto premium refund will receive an additional refund of 5% for May through December 2020.
- The refunds will begin mid-June and will be issued either by check or in the manner the customer made their most recent payment.
- The payments will happen automatically. Customers do not need to call Safeco to receive the refund.
Safeco agent commissions WILL NOT be affected by this 5% customer refund.
